Spyro's Christmas

Christmas was rapidly approaching and the Dragon Temple was a buzz of activity. Preparations were underway to make the Temple ready for Christmas. Iseras had departed with Tarith to find a Christmas tree, Spyro and Cynder were getting the outdoor lights ready to be put up, and the Guardians were setting up the various indoor lights and decorations.

"How's it coming Spyro?" asked Aquamayre. "We just the last of the lights ready!" Then a reverberating crash tore through the Temple. "It sounds like Iseras and Tarith found the tree. The Guardians opened the door and Iseras and Tarith walked in with a large Christmas tree. "Now that's a tree!" exclaimed Aero.

Everyone set up the tree and Tarith and Cynder got busy decorating it. "It was a pain finding that tree." panted Iseras. "Iseras, is there any alcohol left?" asked Veleno. "Oh no you don't; we don't need a drunk dragon around here." replied Iseras as he and Spyro left to hang the exterior lights.

"Pull!" Iseras pulled back on the string as hard as he dared while Spyro used his Earth element to hold the string in place. "I'm done." Iseras relaxed and spit out the string. He looked at the sky and noticed that the sun was just past midday, and they didn't even have a quarter of the lights hung yet! "Man, how did this happen? We are not going to be finished before the sun goes down." "Relax, we have a flashlight." Iseras looked confused for a moment before Spyro burst out laughing. "Hey! I'm going to get you for that!"

The brothers chased each other around for a little while before they saw two shapes approaching. One was a bright yellow dragoness while the other was a jet-black dragon. "Mom! Dad!" waved Spyro. They landed and embraced their kids. "What brings you two over?" asked Iseras. "Well, we just wanted to see everybody. And maybe lend a paw." replied Jarad.

"Great! You can start by helping us rig up these lights." Iseras pointed at the string that they were working on. "That won't be hard." Then Iseras pointed at all the other lights that they had yet to hang. Karra giggled and Jarad gave a 'Save me' look to his mate. Karra merely smiled and went into the Temple.

Inside, Tarith and Cynder were busy decorating the tree and the Guardians were just finishing up the last of the decorating when Karra walked in. "Karra!" everyone exclaimed. "Hey, where's Jarad?" asked Paura. "Oh, he's outside helping Iseras and Spyro rig up the lights. They drafted him." Everyone laughed. Karra walked up to the tree and asked, "Where did you find this tree, it's gorgeous!" "Iseras and I found it." replied Tarith as she hung another ornament.

Karra walked to the kitchen with Aquamayre and Mysl to begin the Christmas cooking. Meanwhile outside, the father and his two sons had managed to rig up half the lights successfully, but it was near dark.

The three took a brief respite before continuing. "I never imagined it would be this hard to rig up lights." panted Jarad. The others nodded, too tired to even speak.

Inside, Tarith and Cynder had just finished up with the ornaments, and were now preparing to hang the star. Parrox walked up to them and said, "Nice tree." startling the girls. "Parrox! Don't do that next time!" Parrox just grinned. "Need some help with the star?" The girls giggled and handed off the star to Parrox, who flew up to the tree. The tree swayed back and forth from Parrox's wings, and the girls burst into uncontrollable laughter at the scene. The others came out to see what the laughter was about and they too started laughing as Parrox tried to put the star on the tree.

Settling back down to the ground, Parrox gasped for breath. "That's harder than it looks." Then a yell of surprise alerted everybody to something outside. They filed out and once again burst into uncontrollable laughter. Iseras was hanging upside down tangled in a string of lights, which were illuminated and swaying back and forth. "Gah! I said I wanted to hang the decorations, not become one!" After getting untangled, Iseras growled in frustration.

Everyone but Karken had gone inside, and he said, "You know, things always go better when you're not wrapped up in your work." Being so frustrated, the father and two sons dropped what they were doing and exclaimed, "Fine! You're so smart, you rig up the lights!"

The three walked inside leaving a dismayed Karken to finish up with the lights. When they entered, they saw Parrox having another go at the star. The trio burst out laughing with Cynder and Tarith and Iseras said, "You are never going to get it that way Parrox!" Parrox landed and gave the star to Iseras. "Okay, why don't you have a go?" Iseras took the star and looked around. Finding what he was looking for, Iseras flew up to the second floor and disappeared.

Everyone was wondering what he was doing when Iseras charged off the balcony and slammed into the top of the tree. The top swayed back and forth as Iseras wrestled the star onto it. "Ahhhhhhh!" THUD! Everyone almost died laughing as Iseras groaned and rolled back onto his feet. "Well, at least I got the star on the tree." Everyone looked up and saw the star perfectly balanced on the tree.

It was nightfall and everyone had gathered outside to see the lights finally turned on. "Ready?" asked Volteer. Everyone nodded and Volteer used his electric breath to power up a generator borrowed from the Terranite base. The lights all flared to life and everyone cheered. The Temple was ready, and everyone walked inside to enjoy the week of Christmas.
